Dorsey - Clifford L. Lindsey, 71, died Thursday, February 5, 2009, at his residence in Dorsey after a brief illness. A native of the Randolph Community in Pontotoc County, he was born July 15, 1937, to Reid and Timey Cossey Lindsey. He was a graduate of Crowder High School where he lettered in basketball, baseball and football. Also in his younger days, he was an amateur boxer. He worked as a truck driver for many years and retired from Buck Horn Furniture Mfg. He was a tallented musician and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. He was a member of Westveiw Baptist Church in Oxford.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Fulton Lindsey and Rev. Dwight Lindsey officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. in Carey Springs Cemetery in the Randolph Community.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Beverly Jay Buffington Lindsey of Dorsey; two sisters, Mae Marino and husband, Lou, of Frankfort, Il. and Sheila McLaughlin and husband, Jim, of Albemarle, N.C.; five brothers, Rev. Fulton Lindsey and wife, Sharon, of Dorsey, Richard Lindsey and wife, Wanda, of Mooreville, Dan Lindsey of Ecru, Anthony Lindsey and wife, Sheryl, of Mooreville, and Ronald Lindsey and wife, Sharon, of Baldwyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Richard, Joseph, Rickey, Brandon, Drew, and Chris Lindsey and Devin Hill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his brothers and Maverick and Maddox Farris.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
