CLETA VINSON Tupelo - Cleta Vinson, 95, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. A Lee County native, she was born August 23, 1918, to Burnel Henderson and Yancie Lou Parker Wade. She was raised in Lee County and had graduated from Belden High School. Earlier in her life she had worked a short time for J.C. Penny's in Downtown Tupelo before becoming a sales clerk at Reeds Department Store where she continued to work for several years. She was married to George Marlin Vinson who preceded her in death May 3, 1990. She and her husband loved camping and after his retirement, both traveled extensively throughout the country in their motor home. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of a longstanding bridge club. For many years she volunteered her time delivering for Meals-On-Wheels. She was a longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and was also one of the church's oldest members. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Langerfeld and Rev. Matt Scopel officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include two children, Shirley Smith of Saltillo and George M. "Bud" Vinson, Jr. (Diane) of Albany, Louisiana; one sister, Peggy Turner (Wayne) of Sherman; four grandchildren, Cindy Mathis (Billy) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Diana Stembridge (Jon) of Saltillo, Ashley Wilkens (Aaron) of Denver, North Carolina and Meagan Vinson of Albany, Louisiana; five great-grandchildren, Paul McDaniel (Andrea), Mattie and Riley Stembridge and Maddie and Harrison Wilkens; three great-great-grandchildren, Menley, Matthew and Madelynn McDaniel and one son-in-law, Terrell Price of Matthews, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband over 50 years, George Marlin Vinson; one daughter, Beverly Price; one grandchild, Robin Blalock and two brothers, Burnel Henderson Wade, Jr. and John William Wade. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the funeral home.
