Clarence Morris

CLARENCE MORRIS Belden - Clarence Morgan Morris, 94, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at Rosewood Residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident of Tupelo, he was born October 21, 1919, to L.B. and Carrie Bourland Morris. In 1956 he married his wife, Jimmie Wallace Morris. A veteran, he served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II and four years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force Reserves after the war. He worked a number of years as a truck driver for Mayflower Moving Company. He loved his family and cherished time spent with them. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Survivors include nieces, Lana Morris Stevens and Imogene Morris Yielding both of Fulton; nephews, Lonnie Morris of San Antonio, Texas, Lawrence Morris and Gerald Morris of Fulton, and Brad Morris of Oxford, as well as extended family in North Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 56 years, Jimmie K. Wallace Morris; one brother, Rev. L. B. Morris; several half brothers and sisters and, his parents. Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Reeves, Lonnie Morris, Harold Stevens, Lawrence Morris, Gerald Morris and Edward Yielding. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Tupelo Children's Mansion, 1801 E. Main, Tupelo, MS 38804.
