Clarence (Bill) Sullivan

Tupelo - Clarence Leonard "Bill" Sullivan, Jr., 79, died Saturday, September 12, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Birmingham Ridge, he was born June 25, 1930 to Clarence L. and Lynette Parker Sullivan. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was retired from Truck Center after 37 years of employment and enjoyed repairing small engines at his home shop. He was a faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and enjoyed singing in the choir. An advocate of health and exercise, he was a lifetime member of the Wellness Center. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and taking care of his dog, Mendi. He was considered by many as a most sincere and humble man.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Dr. Forrest Sheffield, Rev. David Langerfeld and Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Mary Estes Sullivan of Tupelo; two sons, Rev. Dennis Gene Sullivan (Kathlene) of Aberdeen and Dr. Len Sullivan (Phyllis) of Saltillo; his step-daughter, Lisa Estes Ford (Wayne) of Tuscaloosa,Ala.; four grandsons, Dennis, Ben, Joshua, and Micaiah Sullivan; his granddaughter, Rachel Sullivan; and two step-grandsons, Forrest and Hunter Ford; three great-grandchildren, Kaira, Jeremiah, and Madison Sullivan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Peggy Cooley Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Bullard, Myrl Carlock, Darwyn Cozart, Smith Heavner, C.W. Jackson, Billy Kendrick, Tony Mason, and James Wilemon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Duncan-Moore Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
