TUPELO - Christine Brooks Whitten 73, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 13, 1934, to Otho and Ruby Mosley Brooks. She was a longtime resident of Tupelo and Lee County. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. She was the widow of Luther Whitten, to whom she was married for 50 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Danny Rushing and Terry Harbin officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Gregory and husband, Kenny, of Tupelo, and Janice Sloan and husband, Tim, Jackson, Tenn.; one son, Mike Whitten of Tupelo; two sisters, Gertrude Scruggs and Olean Harbin and husband, Jack, of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Rusty Clement and wife, Amber, of Jackson, Tenn., Jenny Gregory and Jill Gregory, both of Tupelo, Keith Whitten of Shannon, Austin Parmer and Ben Parmer, both of Saltillo; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Lexie, Koen and Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jane Guess in 1985.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
