Cheryl Wages Tupelo- After a long, hard battle with cancer, Cheryl Annette Wages, 62, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit in Tupelo. She was born in Tupelo on April 9, 1957, to George Walter and Minnie Cook Wages. She graduated from Shannon High School in 1975. Cheryl received her Associate Degree in Nursing-RN from Itawamba Community College, her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of North Alabama, and her MSN, FNP from Walden University. In 1975, she went to work at the North Mississippi Medical Center as a ward secretary, and after getting her nursing degree, she worked in various departments at the hospital as an RN and nursing supervisor for approximately thirty years. She then worked as a nurse at Sanctuary Hospice House before her illness disabled her. Cheryl enjoyed traveling, cooking, music, old television shows, and mystery movies. She was a Christian and was non-denominational in her beliefs. Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Candace Garrett of Tupelo; son, Jonathan Garrett of Brewer; brother, Ricky Wages (Denise) of Belden; and five grandchildren, Levi Garrett, Xavier Harper, Ja'Lin Harper, Madison Dennis and Malachi Dennis. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Monday, October 7, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Danny Dabbs officiating. Graveside services will follow in Nettleton (Formerly Mullins) Cemetery in Nettleton. Doctors, nurses, and other employees of the North Mississippi Medical Center and Sanctuary Hospice House will have honorary seating in the funeral home chapel for the funeral.
