CHARLOTTE OWENS LANEY
Tupelo - Charlotte "Charly" Owens Laney, 55, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Chickasaw Co. native, she was born April 22, 1951 to the late Orbie Leyton and Ola Martin Owens. She was a 1969 graduate of Belden High School. She worked as a Walmart Associate for 13 years as a receiving clerk. She loved gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and animals, especially her dogs. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Sparks and officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, John T. "Buddy" Laney, of Tupelo; two step-daughters, Linda Taylor and husband, Darrell, of Tennessee, and Suzanne Laney of McAlister, Okla.; two step-sons, Douglas H. Laney and wife, Mary, of Saltillo, and Charles T. Laney of Tupelo; 6 step-grandchildren; two special cousins, David and Faye Reagh; and many more cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Bright, Wayne Hughes, Tommy Smith, Chuck Coleman, Lamar Hunter, Bob Baker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Rice, John McFadden, John Conrad, the Belden High School Class of 1969.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
