CHARLOTTE ROPER
Tupelo – Charlotte Kay Burleson Roper, 54, longtime Tupelo resident, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at her residence after a extended illness. She was born August 13, 1962, in Phoenix, Arizona to Bobby Dale Burleson and Geneva Lou Gale Burleson. She had worked over 10 year with Cooper Tire and later became a technician with Lens Crafters where she had worked a number of years. Charlotte was an avid amateur photographer. She loved animals and was well known for rescuing various pets as well as wildlife but especially her pride and joy was caring for her “furry babies”, Gizmo and Paris. She loved gardening and working in her flower beds. She was a member of Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church.
Services honoring her life will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Robbins officiating. Graveside services will follow at Boguefala Cemetery in Mooreville.
Survivors two daughters, Amanda Scates (Jamey) of Saltillo, April Moore of Guntown; two sisters, Melinda Thrasher (Steve) of Fulton, Liz Martin of Tupelo; two brothers, Ricky Burleson (Linda Gail) of Pontotoc, Rev. Billy Burleson (Vicki) of Mantachie; and her grandchildren; Serenity, Blake, and Brooklyn Hawkins, Maice, and Cooper Scates, Addison Moore and Devin Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bobby Burleson; two sisters, Cathy Lindsey and Gena Clapper.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wood, Ralph Dickey, Bobby Lindsey, Devin Johnson, Jonathan Welch, and Blake Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Thrasher, Steven Thrasher, Tyler Johnson, and Christopher Welch.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from Noon until service time Thursday
