CHARLIE M. NELMS
Cincinnati, OhioCharlie M. Nelms, 58, formerly of Tupelo, died Sunday, January 8, 2006, at his residence in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born February 27, 1947, in Belzoni, Miss. to Willodine Blake Nelms and the late Elmer Nelms. He was a 1965 graduate of Tupelo High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State University, and Auburn University. He was married to Jeannie Conner on November 27, 1982, who preceded him in death on February 13, 2004. He was a craftsman and a carpenter, and enjoyed music, sailing, cycling, racing, and family outings. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his mother, Willodine Nelms of Tupelo; a sister, Lana Odom of Jackson; two brothers, Richard Nelms and wife, Jackie, and Steve Nelms, all of Tupelo; three nephews, David Odom and wife, Natalie, of Midland, Tex., Daniel Odom and wife, Cindy, of Gulfport, Ricky Nelms and wife, Sara, of Tupelo; his mother-in-law, Mary Anne Conner of Cincinnati; brothers- and sisters-in-law Jim Conner of Laurel, Ind., and Michael Conner of Cincinnati, Terry Lee and husband, David, of Washington, D. C., Maureen Mohr and husband, Jeff, of Loveland, Ohio, Lauren Hinderberger and husband, Tim, of Brookville, Ind.; aunts, Neda Malone and husband, Joe, of Bartlett, Tenn., Evelyn Kemp of Nesbit, Margaret Piper and husband, Duane, of Cordova, Tenn., Becky Nelms of Arlington, Tenn., Pat Smyth and husband, Don, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and many cousins.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a favorite charity.
