CHARLIE RED HENRY Saltillo - Charlie Red Henry, 70, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A native and life-long resident of Saltillo, he was born December 1, 1944, the oldest of 10 children of Jessie Millard and Clara Mae Hickman Henry. For many years, Charlie Red did yard work for residents of the Saltillo area. He also worked a long time for Pat Carr and Jimmy White. Charlie Red was an avid Ole Miss football fan. He loved camping, fishing and riding his golf cart in his spare time. Charlie Red loved animals and fed strays anytime they wandered by. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Ray Oliver, Sammy Lansdell and Dr. Rex Yancey officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Liberty Cemetery in McNairy County, Tennessee. Survivors include his sisters, Linda Ethridge, Patsy Henry, Wanda Henry, Peggy Irvin (Mike) and Debbie Thomas (Eddie) all of Saltillo; brothers, Arlie Henry (Gladys), Gerald "Yogie" Henry and Jerry Henry (Zina) all of Saltillo; and a special friend, Edward Woods. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister, Bonnie Purvis. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Matthew Ethridge, John Wilson, Kirk Henry, Kyle Henry, Jason Henry, Nathan Henry, Jason Hamblin and Douglas Raines. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Carr, Jimmy White and Steven Wilson. Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a benevolent housing fund in Charlie Red's name in care of Faith Baptist Church, 553 County Road 681, Saltillo, MS, 38866.
