Charles "C.W." Wood

Mooreville- Charles Waldrup Wood, 83, passed from this life to his Heavenly home Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born July 30, 1934 in Itawamba County to Johnnie Leeverlie and Virginia Smith Wood. He had been a resident of Mooreville for 72 years, attending Friendship School in Dorsey and Mooreville school. He was a long-time member of Boguefala Baptist Church. Charles was employed by Pannell Pride for 25 years and retired from Olympic Foam Products. He loved to take trips, eat dinner out, work in the yard and keep his car cleaned.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Brenda Gillen Wood; one sister Claudette Sheffield and her husband, Joe of Mooreville; four nieces, Tammy Barrett of Mooreville, Susan Sheffield of Memphis, Tennessee, Kathy Deer of Pearl and Jennifer Sheffield of Tupelo; a host of great-nieces and nephews; two step-children, Julia Martin of Pontotoc and Ranae Hardy of Pontotoc; and five step-grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Savanna Sullivan, Cameron Sullivan, Taylor Martin and Katelyn Martin.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Johnny Wilford Wood; and one step-grandchild, Wesley Wood.

Services honoring his life will be 12 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. David Perry and Bro. Royce Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Keys Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday, May 11, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Wood, Dylan Barrett, Joe Sheffield, Todd Nichols, Robert Ellis and Jimmy Sheffield.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of his Sunday School Class.
