Scooter McMurry Tupelo- Charles T. "Scooter" McMurry, 60, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. He was born April 21, 1954, to Charles W. and Mary Ann McMurry. A 1973 graduate of Tupelo High School, he retired after many years as a lineman with the Tupelo Water and Light Department. Scooter was an avid horseman and rodeo cowboy. He was a member of the U. S. Team Roping Championship, ACA, IPRA and Tri-state Rodeo Association. Scooter won many awards as a roper. Over the years, he mentored numerous young cowboys and cowgirls in the art of horseback riding and roping. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor and a friend to all. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors. He is survived by his son, Bryan Wesley McMurry of Oxford; one brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete McMurry (Kathy) and Tom McMurry (Jane); one nephew, Cody McMurry; three nieces, Katie McMuirry, Stacie Hutchison (Tim) and Sadie Krawczyk (Brian); six great-nephews; two great-nieces and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann McMurry. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your charity of choice.
