CHARLES STEMBRIDGE Beech Springs - Charles "Sedge" Stembridge, 72, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House from an extended illness. He was born November 15, 1940 to Mitchell and Crentell Matthews Stembridge. He was a graduate of Tupelo High School. He was a member of Beech Springs Free Will Baptist Church. He worked at Superior Products and retired from Rutledge Contractors in 2010. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved riding around with his best friend, Ruby Monaghan and eating at Ryan's. He especially enjoyed time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Beech Springs Cemetery. Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Bailey of Saltillo and Amanda Baker of Pontotoc; his step-daughter, Leigh Smith of Smithville; four grandchildren, Brandi Adams of Byhalia, Michael Bradley of Maryland, Thomas Baker and Chasity Phillips, both of Pontotoc; step-granddaughter, Meagan Smith of Smithville; nieces, Charlotte Kilgore (Chris) of the Carolina Community and Nancy Johnson of Tupelo; several great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Ruby Monaghan of Mooreville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Crentell Simmons; his father, Mitchell Stembridge; his wife, Rebecca Faye Welch Stembridge. Pallbearers will be Neil Monaghan, Sonny Oxner, Andrew Bailey, Jeff Ramey, Christopher Ramey and Tim McCollum. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill and Gill Monaghan. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
