CHARLES T. SMITH Tupelo - Charles Thomas Smith, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in his home. He was born July 31, 1922, to L. D. and Maudie Bland Smith. He played multiple instruments, but was most known for his fliddler playing and was named state champion. Charles was a WWII Veteran and served in the United State Army as an MP. He married Mae Kirkpatrick November 8, 1942, six months before he was deployed to Germany. He moved to Tupelo in 2003 and was an insurance broker for many years. He was a member of Maben Church of God of Prophecy. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at Crossway Church of God of Prophecy in Eupora with Minister Sam Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Marvin Hill Cemetery in Cumberland, Mississippi. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Mae Smith of Tupelo; children, Gail Wilson and Donnie Smith (Juanita) both of Tupelo; grandchildren, Sandra Ledger (Bubba), Charles "Dee" Davenport (Mary) and Kirk Smith; great-grandchildren, Amber Hollingsworth, Caleb Hollingsworth, Ashley Harr (Andrew) and Sarah Davenport and one great-great-grandchild, Jolee Harr. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles D. Smith. Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Expressions of sympathy may be left at
