CHARLES NELSON MILLER Tupelo - Charles Nelson Miller, 88, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center, Hospice Unit after a lengthy illness. A Prentiss County native, he was born April 16, 1924, to Carl and Ruth Magers Miller. A veteran, he was a Sergeant in the United States Army and served in the military police during World War II in Ascension Island and in Brazil. For 37 years he worked for Day-Brite Lighting in the maintenance department. He greatly enjoyed his Men's Sunday School Class, country music, bluegrass gospel, yard work and especially loved his family very much. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. A celebration of life will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ora Virginia Stephens Miller; son, Randy Miller (Brenda); grandchild, Chastity Benjamin (Josh); great-granchildren, Trace, Mackinzie and Sofie who is due in December. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ellis Miller; sisters, Opal Grissom, Ailene Ryan, Marie Duncan, Mildred Melson and his baby sister, Ovie Miller. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the funeral home.
