Charles McKee

March 9, 1932 — December 6, 2013

CHARLES MCKEE TUPELO -- Born to Nolan and Truma McKee in Fulton, MS, on March 9, 1932, Charles went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. He was a 1948 graduate of Fulton High School, attended Itawamba Junior College, and graduated from The University of Mississippi. Between his time at IJC and Ole Miss, he served in the United States Army. Following his military service, he started his career in the insurance business. Following that, he began working at BancorpSouth and retired, as the Vice Chairman, after forty-two years of service. He served on the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance and was President of Personal Finance Corporation. He was also a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Aubrey Patterson will deliver the eulogy and Lyndie Bishop, Charles' granddaughter, will speak on behalf of the family in his memory. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. until the service begins. His pallbearers are Aubrey Patterson, Dr. Bill Wood, Judge Ken Coleman, Pat Caldwell, Rick Wilburn, Nash Allen, Greg Ray and Ron Hodges. He is survived by his wife, Ruth McKee, whom he was married to for fifty-seven years; daughter, Kay McKee Bishop (Randy) of Tupelo; a son, Jay McKee (Kim) of Tupelo; a sister, Patsy McKee Coleman (Ken) of New Albany; three grandchildren, Lyndie Bishop of Dallas, Texas, Kendall and Kayce McKee of Saltillo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Sanctuary Hospice House P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
