Guntown- Charles Ray Lowry, 75, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Tyronza, Arkansas December 9, 1942 to Ray and Cornelia Haynes Lowry. On December 10, 1961, while serving as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force in Dover, Delaware, he married Janet Dixon. For over 30 years, he lived in Michigan City, Indiana where he worked as a millwright (steel worker) until his retirement in 1995. He has been a resident of Guntown for the last 14 years. Charles loved riding motorcycles and working on old cars. He also enjoyed watching all sports games, especially football and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of The American Legion Post 49 in Tupelo for a number of years. Charles and his wife were big supporters of St. Jude and The American Cancer Society. He attended Cross Pointe Ministries in Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Lowry; three daughters, Kelly L. Stormer of Michigan City, Indiana, Lucretia L. Boggs and her husband, Dennis J. of Booneville and Pamela Rodgers and her husband, Steven of Mooreville; two sons, Rodney L. Lowry of Laporte, Indiana and Russell A. Lowry of Hammond, Indiana; four sisters; three brothers; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Cornelia Lowry; three sisters; and two brothers.
A Memorial Service and luncheon will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Cross Pointe Ministries in Tupelo.
