Charles Lauderdale

February 23, 1943 — October 22, 2009

Tupelo - Charles Edward"Unc" Lauderdale, 66, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Prentiss County native, he was born February 23, 1943 to Donnie Lee and Edna Evelyn Stell Lauderdale. He worked for Glenn Hester Construction Company for many years and also worked for Mid-South Packing Company, PennSylvania Tire Company and Hunter Sadler Clothing. He married Linda Stanford Lauderdale and they made their home in the Auburn Community. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In recent years his pet project was the cabin he was building on the lake in Marietta. He loved spending time with his family and his little dachshund, Cricket. He was a member of Auburn Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Burt and Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Stanford Lauderdale of the Auburn Community; two daughters, Michelle Jones (Jeff) and Tammy Hall, all of Auburn; three grandchildren, Blake and Austin Jones and Hunter Hall; three sisters, Moieze Nanney of Tupelo, Evelyn Ramey of Auburn, and Nona Faye Johnsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Stennett Bishop and Louisse Wilburn.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Wilburn, Jimmy Wilburn, Terry Ramey, Jeff Ramey, Perry Stanford, and Jon David Sullivan

Honorary Pallbearers will be his work crew of Hester's Construction Company.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church.
