GENE INGRAM

Tupelo ? Charles "Gene" Ingram, 77, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after a short illness. A West Union, Illinois, native he was born on May 17, 1936, to Charles Louis and Luella Hager Ingram. A resident of Tupelo for 53 years, Gene worked for the U.S.D.A. as a meat inspector for Mid South Packers until his retirement. He then began his lifelong hobby as the owner of Ingram Construction, which was his passion. He also was a realtor with Couch Realty and Tommy Morgan Realty Co. Along with his extensive background in business; Gene was a United States Marine Corp. veteran serving from 1954 to 1957. He was a board member for Habitat for Humanity and a member of St. James Catholic Church where he served as a charter member of The Knights of Columbus and various other committees.



Services honoring his life will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Lincoln Dall, Father Henry Shelton and Father Tim Murphy officiating. A private burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors will be in charge of the arrangements.



He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Ingram of Tupelo; three daughters, Lisa Ingram Russell (Dale) of Tupelo, Julia Ingram of Houston, Texas, and Malinda Ingram (Kenneth Stegall) of Pontotoc; two grandchildren, Justin Russell and Zach Russell both of Tupelo; one sister, Myrna Deaton of Madison, Wisconsin; two brothers, Paul Ingram (Judy) of St. John, Indiana and Jim Ingram (Barb) of Alton, Illinois.



He is preceded in death by his parents.



The Knights of Columbus will serve as his pallbearers.



Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Merritt, Jerry Bristow, Jim McAlpin, Robert Huffman and Robin Haire.



Visitation with rosary will be 6 ? 8 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2013, at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Habitat for Humanity, 231 W. Main St. # 260 Tupelo, MS 38804.
