Tupelo - Charles William Igert, 87, formerly of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away Dec 11, 2012 after a brief illness. A member of "the greatest generation?, he was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII. He retired with the rank of Captain from the Louisville, Kentucky Fire Department in 1974.
He was born October 20, 1925 in Milltown, Indiana to Charles and Lillian Sieg Igert. He was a catholic and parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Nally Igert, daughter Kelly Glover (Danny), grandchildren Shelly Schultz (Steve) of Boca Raton, Fl, Shannon Hull (Mitch) of Clarksville, TN, Matthew Hussey and Anna-Liesa Hussey, great grandchildren Allie Stacy, Jocelyn and Zane Hull.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gary Shaffner.
