Charles Burcham

Indian Hills - Charles Ray Burcham, 69, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born March 30, 1937, in Itawamba County to James B. Burcham and Vera Yarber Burcham. He was retired from FMC, where he worked for 17 years. He was a member of Gum Tree Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Mississippi National Guard. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, gardening, cats, and working with kids in Sunday school and church training.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Charles Covington officiating, and the Rev. Randy Kolb and Bro. Ronald Lowell officiating. Burial will be in East Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Margaret Burcham of Indian Hills; three sons, the Rev. James Burcham and wife, Tracy, of Oxford, Dwight Burcham and wife, Mary, of Saltillo, and David Burcham of Indian Hills; three sisters, Margaret Bigalki and husband, Richard, of Kenosha, Wis., Helen Leahy and husband, Paul, of Mayfield, Ky., and Joyce McKibbin and husband, Gerald, of Starkville; one brother, Leland R. Burcham and wife, Vadeen, of Baldwyn; five grandchildren, Charles Forrest Burcham and Bryan Nathanial Burcham, both of Oxford; and William Michael Dixon, Wesley Daniel Burcham and Carson Taylor Burcham and their mother, Donna Burcham, of Saltillo; one great-grandchild, Ryleigh Faulkner; special friends, Mike and Judy Knight, and Will, Austin and Coy, of Hickory, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Curtis Lamar Burcham and Paul Jack Burcham.

Pallbearers will be Randle Davis, Charles F. Burcham, Bryan Burcham, Will Knight, Philip McKibben, Mark Burcham, Curtis Michael Burcham and Herman Peyton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clark, Ted Day, Stan Benge, Wesley Burcham, Carson Burcham and Derrick Roberts.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Saltillo Chapel.
