CHARLES BERRYHILL
Bissell Community - Charles Edward Berryhill, 88, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born in Oklahoma on July 20, 1928, to Charles Edwin and Della Williams Berryhill. At an early age, he moved to Pontotoc. Charles graduated from Pontotoc High School and attended Itawamba Junior College. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War before he was medically discharged. On May 1, 1952, he married Carolyn Jo Payne. Charles was known as the local "fix-it man" for the Bissell Community. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a hard worker and worked in quality control at Day Brite. Charles enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and fishing and camping. He was a member and Deacon of Bissell Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife of 65 years, Carolyn Jo Berryhill of the Bissell Community; children, Mark Berryhill (Vicki) of Brandon, Patsy Duke (Bill) of Saltillo and Brenda Ingram (William) of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren, Scott Berryhill, Daniel Berryhill, of Brandon, David Duke (Jennifer) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Rebecca Duke of Saltillo, Heather Allen (Chris) of Linden, Alabama and Amanda Naron (Joe) of Mobile, Alabama; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Luerine Hester of Pontotoc and Betty Jean Bright of Pensacola, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Donna Jo Berryhill; brother, Albert Berryhill and sister, Christine Wilson.
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Graveside services will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Deacons of Bissell Baptist Church.
