CHARLENE WEATHERS Tupelo - Charlene Clayton Weathers, 93, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. Born and raised in Itawamba County, before moving to Tupelo. She was born December 28, 1920, to Prentiss and Myrtle Martin Clayton. In earlier years she was an Accounts Payable Clerk with Sears in Atlanta, GA. After moving to Tupelo she worked at Mid-South Garment and Reed's Manufacturing. Charlene resided at Avon-Lea Assisted Living for eight years before relocating to the Greenhouses at Traceway. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church since 1958. A loving mother, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, especially tending her flowers. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, James Larry Weathers (Joan) of Tupelo; one grandson, James Todd Weathers (Kristen); one great-granddaughter, Olivia Leigh Weathers; one great-grandson, Jacob Karrie Weathers all of Austin, Texas; one nephew, Mark Clayton (Renee) of Tupelo; three great-nieces, Leah Clayton of Memphis, Tennessee, Stacy Sharp of Tupelo and Robbin Sharp Nanney (Jay) and son, Hunter all of Tupelo; one great-nephew, Adam Clayton of Tupelo; three nieces, Mary Jo Duncan and Donna G. Duncan both of Lee County and Myra Clayton Sharp of Tupelo; several great nieces and nephews; two step-grandsons, Evan Dozier (Chara) of Austin, Texas and Jordan Dozier of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, Karrie Weathers (Barbara); one sister-in-law, Juanita Franks and a family friend, Rudolph Franks. She was preceded in death by her parents; James Dudley Weathers; one brother, Paul Raymond Clayton; one sister, Clarene McCain. Pallbearers will be Todd Weathers, Mark Clayton, Mark Weathers, Steve Weathers, Jordan Dozier, Jerry Loden and Adam Clayton. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, February 9, 2014, at the funeral home.
