Tupelo—Cathy Carolyn “MeMe” Lowrance, age 71, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 3, 1950, the daughter of Robert Franklin Jones and Mary Lou Milligan Jones. Cathy worked as a seamstress for Lee Sportswear for many years. Her life’s work however, was raising the many children in her life. Many grandchildren as well as children in her neighborhood were touched by the care she provided. She enjoyed playing bingo with her granddaughter and hanging out with her great-granddaughters.
Cathy leaves behind her longtime companion, Robert Comer of Tupelo; four sons, Buddy Dickson of Tupelo, David Lowrance (Karen) of Rossville, Georgia, Terry Lowrance (Wendy) of Tupelo, and Michael Lowrance of Mooreville; Eleven grandchildren, Bruce Rushing of Tupelo, Ashley Palmer (Chris) of Saltillo, Eric Dickson (Jenny) of Tupelo, Brandon Smith (Danielle) of Tupelo, Lacey Grisham (John) of Tupelo, Haven Lowrance (Larry Walls) of Mooreville, Cailyn Lowrance of Rossville, Georgia, Keely Lowrance (Dillon Henderson) of Tupelo, Graycin Lowrance of Rossville, Georgia, Charlie Lowrance of Rossville, Georgia, and Elaina Lowrance of Tupelo; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Lucille Kerns (Larry) of Georgia and Sandy Roberts (Bruce) of Tupelo; and a brother, David L. Jones (Beverly) of Tennessee.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 28 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Priceville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Grisham, Joshua Patterson, Larry Walls, Dillon Henderson, Bruce Rushing, and Christopher Palmer.
