Catherine Quintilia D’Orazio Baker

Verona - Catherine Quintilia DOrazio Baker, 89, died Sunday, October 17, 2010, at her residence in Verona after a brief illness. She was born March 5, 1921 in Crumlynn, Pennsylvania to Luigi and Grace Rossi D'Orazio. She was raised in Crumlynn and met her husband, Quitman Ellis Baker after moving to Washington D. C. She and her husband had lived in the Carolina Community for a number of years before moving to Verona where she had resided the remainder of her life. She was active with the Verona Senior Citizens group and received immense pleasure in taking care of the Old Folks, who most were younger than she was. She remained mentally and physically active working crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, and working in the yard and gardening. She was a member of the Verona Christian Church.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Regina Stanford (Robert) of Verona and Kathy Montague (Ray) of Nettleton; one son, David Baker (Marsha) of Nettleton; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Baker of Tupelo; two sisters, Addie O'Coiadata of Plant City, FL and Phil Greto of Crumlynn; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Rollins (Mary Ellen) of Crystal Springs, Gina Kaye Rollins of Tupelo, Michael Rollins of Verona, Mark Rollins (Stacy) of Nashville, Robert Baker(Renae) of Tupelo, John Baker (Dawn) of Mooreville, Christopher Turner (Sandi) of Memphis, TN, Michele Wren (Isreal) of the Wren Community; Special Neighbors, Beth and Clifton Hodges; special friends, Betty Kelly of Brewer, Naomi Riley of Nettleton and Edith Gaines of Okolona; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitman Ellis Baker on July 9, 1992; her parents; two sons, Robert Ellis "Bob" Baker and John Lewis Baker; two sisters, Ann Surynt and Quinn Fusco; two brothers, George and Lewis D'Orazio.
Pallbearers will be her son, her grandsons and her two son-in-laws.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at the funeral home.
