SISTER CARRIE BISHOP
Tupelo " Sister Carrie Bishop, 90, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at her residence after an extended illness. A Marion County, Ala. native, she was born September 10, 1916 to the late Daniel and Martha Box Fowler. She was a longtime resident of the Evergreen Community. She was a devoted Christian mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and loved everyone she met. She enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was a member of Evergreen Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and had served over 70 years in ministry.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Robert Maxey, Rev. Bobby Maxey, and Rev. J.C. Killough officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Florence Maxey and husband, Rev. Robert Maxey of Evergreen; Gerald Dean McKay and husband, Jerry of Tupelo; and Delaine Jones and husband, Earl, of Dumas; one son, Hubert Bishop and wife Lavender; 12 grandchildren, Sharon Kisor, Gloria Hester, Rev. Bobby Maxey, Crystal Darlene Faulkner, Hazel Henry, Stephanie Lemmons, Gary Bishop, Ricky Bishop, Symanthia Guthrie, Sheila Mattox, Melissa Ryan, and Angela Morgan; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren..
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Tulus Bishop and a granddaughter, Lilly Mae Henry; and three sisters, Lela Kimble, Cordie Vaughn, and Clara Bell Randolph.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Kimble, Norman Mattox, David Kisor, Buddy Tatum, James Tatum, and Al Gene Howard.
