CAROLYN SMITH

Tupelo - Carolyn ?Tolly? Smith, 75, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013, at her residence after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, she was born March 24, 1938, to Hershel and Sophia Reed Wheeler. In 1955, she graduated from Itawamba High School and on July 23, married her husband of 58 years, Gary Smith. Together they owned and operated Smith & Brumley Athletic House in Southaven for 30 years. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed shopping. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and cherished time spent with them. She was a member of West Main Church of Christ.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Doug Greenway officiating and eulogy by Terry Brumley and Craig Bean. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Smith of Tupelo; two children, Vicki Dye (Jimmy) of Tupelo and Tim Smith (Rhonda) of Brandon; five grandchildren, Jeremy Green (Keely) of Tupelo, Jason Smith (Keri) of Morton, Jamie Smith (Bridgett) of Nettleton and Amanda Parham and Allison Smith both of Vicksburg; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jackie Brumley of Columbus, Betty Jeffcoat (Bill) of Murry, Kentucky and Molly Smith (Doug) of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Reva Gurley, Louise Barnes, Basil Wheeler, Jo Bean, Terry Wheeler, Junior Wheeler and Yvonne Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Joe Reed Brumley, Tim Wood, Jeff Rogers and Shane, Bronson and Braxton Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Jamie Smith, McKenzie Smith, Mandy Parham, Jeremy Green and Tyler Green.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the funeral home.
