CAROLYN CRONE Tupelo - Carolyn Frances Copeland Crone ran into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the Rush Specialty Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, after an extended illness. Born in Blytheville, Arkansas on November 3, 1942, to Elzy Calvin Copeland Jr. and Lillian Frieda Carver Copeland, Carolyn grew up in a military family; her father's position in the Air Force resulted in the family traveling and living in numerous locations. Carolyn graduated with the class of 1960, from Yamato High School in Japan. Three years later, on September 1, 1963, she married Robert "Bob" Leonard Crone. They were married for 52 wonderful years. Carolyn left a legacy of care-giving, kindness, and hospitality. In 1963, she began her 44 year nursing career at the Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana, and claimed that her favorite area of work was in surgery. A dedicated mother, Carolyn also lead her daughter's Girl Scout Troop for many years. She was also the owner of A Stitch In Time, a needlepoint shop in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she taught classes and enjoyed working all needle arts. After retirement in 2007, Robert and Carolyn moved to Tupelo to be close to their two granddaughters. Carolyn will be remembered for her giving spirit and great love for her family. A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2015, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements. Carolyn in survived by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Selena Davis (Brad) of Tupelo; one son, Robert Crone (Gary Reich) of Annapolis, Maryland; two granddaughters, Megan and Kristen Davis of Tupelo; one brother, Jack Copeland (Annie) of Coquimbo, Chile; one sister, Marcia Copeland of Tyler, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elzy and Lillian Copeland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Building Fund, 1400 Clayton Ave, Tupelo, MS 38804 or a preferred charity.
