TupeloCarol Ann Barney, 67, died Friday, January 20, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Mt Clemens, Michigan on August 22, 1938. She was a homemaker and a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She was a precious person that always gave hope, love and courage to others, especially to her fellow cancer patients.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Herndon and Rev. Greg Herndon officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Herndon of Tupelo and Robin Bass of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Mark Barney and his fianc, Elizabeth, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jay Barney and his fianc, Teresa Dill, of Saltillo; her parents, Elmer and Lillian Beardsley Bettcher; two sisters, Judy Erdman and husband, Jerry, of Mt Clemons, Mi., Kristene Walter and husband, Robert, of Richmond, Mi.; one brother, Terry Bettcher of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Chad Herndon, Madison Bass, Kaitlyn Barney, Abigale Bass, Savannah Barney, Jonathon Dill, and Jacob Dill.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law and special friend, Tim Herndon.
Visitation will be from 4 to8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home on Jefferson Street.
Memorials may be made to the North Mississippi Medical Center Cancer Center.
