Carl Mabry

CARL MABRY Tupelo - Carl Lipscomb Mabry, 94, died October 24, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Sellers Mabry, who was his wife for sixty-one years. They had a wonderful life together. He was in the service three and one-half years (11/2 years in India, 2 years at Drew Field, Tampa, Florida in the Signal Corp. attached to the Air Force) He first worked in the Secretary of State's office in the Capital after campaigning for Walter Woods, Secretary of State. After leaving the Secretary of State's office in Jackson, he worked for the Corp. of Engineers 1 ½ years in the construction of Keesler Field in Biloxi. He worked for the Veterans Administration in Jackson where he met his wife. He worked for the Soil Conservation in Jackson where he retired. Several years after having retired, he and his wife moved to Tupelo to be near his niece, Patricia Mabry Swindoll who lives in Tupelo. They never had any children of their own, but a bunch of nieces and nephews whom they loved very much. When he got out of service, he worked as a sales person for Office Supply Company in Jackson. He grew up on Gloster Street in Tupelo where his dad organized Tupelo Floral Company and later expanded business to Highway 78 North where his mother, Jessie Robinson Mabry, named it Flowerdale. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Lynn Mote and a eulogy by Ricky Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Robinson Mabry ; his brothers, Llewellyn Robinson Mabry and his wife, Bernadette Mabry and Joseph Burnett Mabry, Jr.; his sisters Ada, aged three years and Pauline, infant. Pallbearers will be Blake, Drew and Zack Stein, Ricky Bryant, Paul Trivette, Steve and Tommy Sellers and Larry Stewart. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
