DR. CARL KELLUM, JR.

Tupelo - WILLIAM CARL KELLUM, JR., MD 53, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born December 2, 1952 in New Orleans, La. to Maurice Lucas Kellum and the late Dr. William Carl Kellum, Sr. He grew up in Tupelo where he graduated in 1971 from Tupelo High School. He then went on to University of Mississippi where he received his undergraduate degree in 1975 and his M.D. from The University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1979. He did his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. He practiced gastroenterology with Digestive Health Specialists. He was an avid fan of Ole Miss football and enjoyed bass fishing. He was very active in his church, Gloster Street Church of Christ, and spending time with family was an important priority. He was a fellow in the American College of Physicians.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Gloster Street Church of Christ with Minister Chad Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Blake Kellum of Tupelo; one daughter, Martha Kellum Hovater and husband, Michael, of Birmingham, Ala; three sons, Lucas Reid Kellum of Oxford, James Darby Kellum of Memphis, and Benjamin Carl Kellum of Tupelo;five sisters and brothers, Paul Lucas Kellum and wife, Pam, of Daphne, Ala., Dr. Andrew Howard Kellum and wife, Donna of Tupelo, Patricia Kellum Wilson and husband, Mark, of Kimberly, Ala., Deborah Kellum Tate and husband, John, of Kimberly, Ala., Dr. Kenneth Maurice Kellum and wife, Laura, of Tupelo; and his mother, Maurice Lucas Kellum of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Carl Kellum, Sr..

Pallbearers will be Bobby Adderholt, David Crump, Jiimmy Dyson, Steve Finn, Bill Meadows, Tony Milam, Wayne Pitner, and. Carlton Plunk. Honorary pallbearers will be his partners at Digestive Health Specialists.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
