Calvin Harding

CALVIN C. HARDING

Tupelo - Calvin C. Harding, 80, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness. A Panola Co. native, he was born June 22, 1925 to the late Chelsea and Ollie Harding. He was a US Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a retired carpenter and enjoyed duck hunting. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was the widow of Katie Corean Harding who preceded him in death on February 14, 1993.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elam Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, James Stepp and wife, Darlene, of Lockport, LA, and Richard Harding and wife, Donna, of Olive Branch; three daughters, Wanda Reed, of Shannon, Marcia Morgan and husband, Rob Weaver, of Booneville, and Sandra Trammel of Shannon; one sister, Quay Payne of Jackson, Ala.; and one brother, Harry Harding of Bolivar, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; one son, Larry Harding; and one sister, Faye Ratliff.

Pallbearers will be Butch Riley, Richard Houston, Pete Luke, Van Allen Underwood, Ralph Harmon, Doug Hughes, Joe Hillhouse, and Rocky Pickering.

Visitation will be 11 a.m until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
