LAMAR CROCKER, JR.
Tupelo – Clarence Lamar Crocker, Jr., 66, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on August 31, 1950 to Clarence and Lena Manning Crocker. He was a graduate of the University of Mobile, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He was a pastor at churches in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, including Pleasant Ridge in Woodland, Mississippi. Lamar was a vocational rehabilitation consultant particularly for the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in Mississippi and Alabama. He was a member, Sunday school teacher and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and very active until his health declined.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rachel Crocker of Tupelo; son, Steven Crocker of Tupelo; sister, Sharon Brasswell (Tommy) of Opelika, Alabama; brother, Brac Crocker (Kay) of Hartselle, Alabama; nieces, Cara McKee, Laura DeLine and Stacey Hadavii and nephew, Brackett Crocker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Brandon Crocker.
Services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Rev. Steve Hurt with be officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Noxapater Baptist Church with Mr. Paul Crow.
Pallbearers will be Neill Stewart, Al Pleasants, Willie Payne, Larry Witcher, Tom Higginbotham, Lamar Hunt, Dr. Paul Crider and Brackett Crocker.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class.
