C. M. "Chunk" Carr

C. M. "CHUNK " CARR Chesterville - C. M. "Chunk" Carr, 79, went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 9, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born on February 18, 1935, to Johnny W. and Wanda Barnett Carr. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War Conflict. Chunk owned and operated different businesses throughout his career. After retiring he farmed and enjoyed working on tractors. Fishing, hunting and taking care of his nieces and nephews were among his favorite hobbies. He was a member of Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church where he oversaw the building committee of the new sanctuary. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Wesley Stephens officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Old Chesterville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lillie Kelly Carr; one sister, Judy Smith (Don) of Jefferson, Louisiana; one brother, Johnny H. Carr (Marjorie) of Pontotoc; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dois King; and one brother, Billy Carr. Pallbearers will be Ricky Campbell, George Shelton, Andy Skelton, Dwight Simmons, Bob Jamison and Neal Turner. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo Memorials may be made to Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 106 Doe Run Road, Tupelo, MS 38801. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com
