Butch Keith

Tupelo—At the age of 71, Butch Keith passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, he was born October 2, 1953, the son of Lemuel Hamilton “Dutch” Keith and Gladys Scruggs Keith. For many years Butch worked in construction as an acoustic ceiling installer. He owned Keith Construction and later worked for Etheridge Construction. Butch was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting whitetail deer and also fishing. Until his health began to decline, he was a faithful member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Pontotoc. A close knit family, Butch unconditionally loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and brothers who will all miss him dearly.

Butch leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Rachel Keith; his mother, Gladys Keith; his son, Derek Keith; three grandchildren, Breanna, William Gage, and Victoria Keith; great-grandson, Khy’ree “Beebop” McIntosh; two brothers, Jerry Keith (Linda), and Chris Keith (Pam); brother-in-law, Donald Cullum; step-father-in-law, Charles W. Riley; a special niece who was like a daughter to Butch, Robin Carter; a special friend, Toni Baker; and a host of other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dutch Keith; sister-in-law, Janie Davis; his mother-in-law, Mary Riley; and father-in-law, William Vance Cullum.

Visitation will be 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 3282 Kings Highway, Tupelo MS 38801. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rev. Greg Herndon officiating. Graveside services will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek Keith, Jerry Lee Keith, Douglas Keith, Ben Keith, Kristopher Keith, Tony Keith, and James Scruggs.
