Mr. Burton L. Paikoff passed away May 6, 2011, at his home in Tupelo, MS at the age of 81 years. Burt was born on March 21st, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from West Coast University. Born to Sol and Mary Paikoff, (both deceased), he had an older sister Natalie, now deceased, and a surviving younger brother, Mel. Burt was married to Sally Ortenberg on March 14th, 1951. Burt served in the army during the Korean War from November, 1951 until his discharge in July, 1953. Although Burt was born in Brooklyn, he and his wife moved to California in 1959 with their two oldest children. He lived there until he moved to Bristol, VA in 1987. After his retirement in 1995, Burt moved to Tupelo, MS where he lived a fulfilling life with many friends and served as one of the lay Rabbis with Temple Bnai Israel.
Burt and Sally are survived by three sons, Rick (his wife Jan), Andy (his ex-wife Sue), Don Paikoff and one daughter, Toby Michelson (her husband David), eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A simple service conducted by close friends and family, celebrating Burts life was held at the temple. Burt was laid to rest near his wife, who passed away in 1971, at Mount Olive Cemetery in Costa Mesa California.
