Buford Calvin Deaton
RICHMOND - Buford Calvin Deaton, 90, of the Richmond community, died Friday April 13, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1916, in the Brewer community to the late Mac and Essie Rhudy Deaton. He was a retired employee of Blue Bell Manufacturing of Tupelo. He loved gardening and yard work and gospel singing. He was a member of the Richmond United Pentecostal Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Richmond United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Sammy Raper and Bro. Jerry Keith officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 66 years, Donnis Presley Deaton of the Richmond community; one son, Larry Deaton Sr. of Richmond; two sisters, Mary Lee Lyles and husband, Durell of Van Fleet and Inez Cortin of Tenn.; five grandchildren, Phillip Deaton and wife, Wendy, of Huntsville, Ala., Dee Ann Deaton of East Dubuque, Ill., Chrissey Foster and husband, Ricky, of Waynesville, N.C., Larry Deaton Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Reno, Nevada, and Amanda Deaton of Fulton; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Al Linley, Travis Mask, David Lee, Jonathan Mask, Roger Fields, Phillip Deaton and Charlie Schumpert. Honorary pallbearer will be Truman Allen Presley.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.
