Fulton - Velma "Bud" McNeal Jr., 73, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his residence on the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway near Fulton. He was born in New Albany November 12, 1944, to Velma McNeal, Sr. and Bernice Doyle McNeal. He was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School and also attended the University of Mississippi. During the Vietnam War, he was enlisted in the Army Reserve. Bud came from humble beginnings and through hard work was able to open his own companies, McNeal Land Co. and Briarwood Homes. He had also worked with the Mississippi Home Corp. He loved his family and friends more than anything and enjoyed riding his Sea-Doo on Pickwick Lake. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those who had the honor to know him.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandy McNeal of Cordova; two sons, Kenneth McNeal and his wife, Melanie of Tupelo and Chris and his wife, Jennifer of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren, Reed, Patton, Meg, Sara Elizabeth and Miles McNeal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 29 years, Sara Lynn Hall McNeal; and two sisters, Mary Frances McNeal Payne Bowen and Elizabeth Ann McNeal Mayo.
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018, at The Orchard, Tupelo. In honor of Bud's request, there will be no formal services.
