Bryant Ewing

Pontotoc - Bryant Ewing, 79, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Belden native and longtime Lee County resident, he was born September 17, 1932, to Claude and Maud Rial Ewing. In 1950, he graduated from Belden High School. On Nov. 29, 1952, he married Terry Crowley Ewing. A veteran of the Vietnam and Koren Wars, he served 20 years in the US Air Force retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military career, he owned and operated the All American Motel for 26 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a member of Tupelo Baptist Church. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Patrick Ewing and Stephen Ewing officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Survivors include his children, Stacy Helen Ewing Morgado (Antonio), of Vilamoura, Portugal, Tim Ewing (Rene) of New Albany, and Pat Ewing (Melissa) of Pontotoc; seven grandchildren, Cristina Morgado, Michele Morgado, John Morgado, Stephen Ewing (Rene), Robbie Huff, Sawyer Ewing, and Tessa Ewing; two great-grandsons, Samuel Bryant Ewing and Wesley Reed Ewing; one sister, Lola Sheets of Belden; one brother, Claude Ewing (Darlene) of Ripley; a sister-in-law, Pebble Ewing of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ellen Theresa "Terry" Ewing who died December 12, 2011; three sisters and four brothers. Pallbearers will be Jerry Clayton, Benny Randle, Gary Waldrip, Eddie Martin, Harold Wilson, Jimmy Monts, Steve Hester, Jerry Hollinsworth, Jimmy Papas, Doug Ewing, Donnie Ewing, and Robbie Huff. Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Yarber, Dr. Butch Guest, Russell Young, Kermit Davis, Harold Richberry, H.C. Payne, and Gene Box. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
