BOBBY G. NEWBORN

Tupelo - BOBBY GLENN NEWBORN, 61, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. An Alcorn County native, He was born May 31, 1946, to the late Charlie and Velma Mae Carpenter Newborn. A 1965 graduate of Rienzi High School, he later attended Northeast Community College. He was a Field Representative for Woodman of the World Insurance, retiring in 2006, and had previously worked for Lance Snack Foods. He grew up at Jacinto and was a long time resident of Tupelo. He was involved in the Woodmen of the World Children's Camp at Ackerman and encouraged his clients' children to attend and enjoy the camp experience. He helped transport the children to and from camp. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Tupelo Luncheon Civitan Club until he became ill. He was also a member of Friends of Bill W. He enjoyed camping and loved being "Papa Bob" to his grandchildren, Addie and Ella. He was a member of The Orchard.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bryan Collier officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Annette Morgan Newborn of Tupelo; two children, Beverly Thompson and husband, Blake of Clinton, and Casey Newborn of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Addie and Ella Thompson, both of Clinton; and his sister, Judy Newborn Glenn and husband, Bill, of Corinth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Jerry Newborn.

Pallbearers will be Joe Coggins, Tommy Dempsey, Bill Glenn, Mark Henderson, James Morgan, Rickey Morgan, and Tommy Morgan.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
