BOBBIE BLANCHARD

Mooreville- Bobbie Ellen Leslie Blanchard, 82, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at The Meadows, Daniel Health Care Inc. after an extended illness. A Mississippi native, she was born January 6, 1931, to Neville Harrison and Anna Mae Ballard Leslie. She was a 1949 graduate of Mooreville High School. At Mooreville she was a star on the high school basketball team. She married John Blanchard on September 25, 1948. For the first twenty years of their married life, she and her family had lived in a number of places during her husband's career in the U.S. Navy. Upon her husbands completion of military service, she returned home with her family to Mooreville. After returning to Mooreville, Bobbie ran a childcare facility for many years. A person with a caring heart, she was known for her home being open to any and everybody.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Don McCain officiating. Burial will be in Mooreville Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John Blanchard; four daughters, Kathy Arnold (David) of St. Martinville, Louisiana, Mary Dawson (Gary) of Mooreville, Suzanne Smith (Dawn) of Amory, Frances Long (Mickey) of Mooreville; five sons, Scott Blanchard (Nita) of Mooreville, Larry Blanchard (Joyce) of Mooreville, Nicky Blanchard of Mooreville, Phillip Blanchard (Mimi) of Guntown, Chris Blanchard (Cori) of Lafayette, Louisiana; One brother, Jack Leslie (Billizean) of Mooreville, 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Neville H. and Anna Mae Leslie; two grandchildren.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the funeral home.
