Tupelo - Bobbie Davis, 86, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. A native of Tremont, he was born October 20, 1921 to L. D. and Edna Weeks Davis. He was raised in Tremont and was a graduate of Tremont High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed Washington State. He married Mary Trammell Davis August 20, 1945. He was the longtime sales manager with George Ruff Buick and Oldsmobile and later with Frankie Blackman Buick for a combined 49 years of service. Earlier in life he was a member of the Tupelo Lions Club. He will be well remembered for his longtime service as a volunteer with North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a member of the deacon body, greeter, and served on numerous committies within the church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Randy Von Kanel officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Trammel Davis of Tupelo; two sons, Jerry A. Davis and wife, Deborah S. Davis of Tupelo and Tom Davis and wife, Kathy Claxton, of Memphis; two brothers, Bill Davis of Vina, Ala. and Buster Davis of Kenosha, Wisc.; and three grandchildren, Scott Davis and Stuart Davis, both of Oxford, and Lily Davis of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Melrose Shotts, Mildred Pettigo, Jennie Brown, and Madgie Brown; and one brother, Lawrence Davis.
Pallbearers will be Scott Davis, Stuart Davis, Jack McFerrin, Evans Whittle, Jimmy Floyd, Ken Wicker, Mark Ledbetter, and Stanley Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ken Burnside Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church; the staff and friends at Cardiac Rehab of North Mississippi Medical Center; Dr. Paul White, Willie Partlow, Ernest Bowen, Jr., and Bill Colley, Jr.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
