Bob Knight

September 3, 1947 — July 8, 2018

Robert Eugene Knight, 70, died surrounded by the love of his life and his family, Sunday, July 8, 2018, in Aruba. He was born September 3, 1947, to George Ephraim and Allie McMahan Knight. Bob was a 1965 graduate of Tupelo High School and attended Mississippi State University. On January 30, 1970, he married the former, Nancy Christian. Early in life, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In the early 80's, Bob purchased Todd's Big Star and owned and operated it until his retirement in May 2017. He also owned several other businesses in Tupelo and the surrounding area. He was an avid football, baseball and boxing fan and often traveled with his family to watch the Bulldogs, Yankees and the Cardinals play. He was also a big fan of Elvis Presley. He served multiple terms as President of the North Mississippi Football Officials. He always supported his community and schools in Lee County. Bob was a member of West Main Church of Christ.



Survivors include his wife, Nancy Knight; one son, Clay Knight and his wife, Casey of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Colton Knight, Clayton Knight, Cade Knight and Mary Mize Knight; one brother, Mike Knight and his wife, Sandra of Tupelo; mother-in-law, Thelma Robbins of Tupelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents.



Services honoring his life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at The Orchard with Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.



Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the church.



Pallbearers will be Matt Brooks, Jerry Scruggs, John Hallmark, Larry Riley, Phil Poe, Jerry Steffens, James Bryan and Lloyd Cole.



Honorary pallbearers will be all Northeast Mississippi Football officials and employees of Todd's Big Star.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Main Church of Christ building fund, 2460 Main St. Tupelo, MS 38801.
