Blanche Otis

Tupelo - Blanche H. Otis, 98, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Noxubee County native, she was born November 15, 1913 to Kenneth Keith and Elizabeth Pate Hill. She was a graduate of Shuqualak High School where she was valedictorian of her senior class. She was a cafeteria manager, worked as a seamstress doing alterations, and later the bookstore manager for MUW. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, reading, and quilting.

Graveside Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, MS with Dr. David Eldridge officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Larry Otis (Sharon Fanning-Otis) of Starkville, MS.; her grandchildren, Keith Otis of Honolulu, Hawaii, Cavett Otis (Elise) of Tupelo, Kate Farabaugh (Paul) of Tupelo; her great-grandchildren, Leslie Pleasants (Zack) of Tupelo, Laura Zumwalt (Casey) of Memphis, Tenn., Will Otis of Tupelo, Cooper Joyner, Emma Grace Joyner and Julia Farabaugh all of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Otis; her daughter-in-law, Julia G. Otis, her grandson, Christopher Arden Otis.
