Tupelo - Blanche Raper Green, 86, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born February 21, 1922 to Dexter Cassell and Fannie Idella Horton Raper. She graduated from Belden High School and also attended college. She worked as a plant manager in several states such as Arkansas, Virginia and Alabama. After retiring, she moved to Tupelo and lived here for the last 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Her favorite flower was the rose and she enjoyed gardening and reading.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Randy Von Kanel officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her four children, Allen Wade Green, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Silver Hill, Alabama, Pat Clayton and her husband, Jimmy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Saundra Dye and her husband, Johnny, of Tupelo and Jimmy Dale Green and his wife, Libby, of Roanoke, Virginia; 12 grandchildren , Anita Jones, Kenny Jones, Alicia Reynolds, Shannon Grubbs, Ronda Tiedman, Rick Clayton, Amy McBryar, Monica Rowe, Brooks Dye, Jamie Green, Sarah Thompson and Jason Green; 12 great grandchildren, McClain Reynolds, Caroline Reynolds, Lakin Grubbs, Kylee Grubbs, Scarlett Nash, Daniel Clayton, Emily Sanders, Jake Pedigo, Ally Pedigo, Brittany Rowe, Hannah Pruitt and Aaron Pruitt; one great great grandchild, Kaiden Clayton; one sister, Bessie Brown of Tupelo; three brothers, Lawrence Raper and his wife, Montez, of Tupelo, Elkin Raper and his wife, Idell, Otis Raper and his wife, Margaret, both of Osceola, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Green; her parents; one brother, Leonard Raper; one sister, Bernice Richey.
Pallbearers will be Brooks Dye, Rick Clayton, Shannon Grubbs, Steve Rowe, Jeff McBryar, Johnny Green, Sammy Rice and Edward Raper.
Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the funeral home.
