Birmingham Ridge - Blanche Easterling, 83, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born September 29, 1924 to A. M. and Mamie Barkley Carson. She owned Easterling Grocery and also retired from Reed's Manufacturing. She was a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church where she was a member for 65 years. She loved her home, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite past time was watching American Idol and Days of Our Lives. She lived life to the fullest. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. Her love for her God gave her strength, compassion and courage.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Mears officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors in Saltillo are in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Herring and her husband, Jack, of Saltillo, Brenda Carter and her husband, Tommy, of Saltillo, and Debbie Berryman, and her husband, Twitty, of Guntown; one son, Raymond Earl Easterling and his wife, June, of Saltillo; nine grandchildren, Renee Easterling, John Robbins and his wife, Mandy, Michael Morgan and his wife, Allison, Ken Herring and his wife, Michele, Jason Herring and his wife, Angie, Ronnie Berryman and his wife, Kristy, Drew Carter, Susan Duffie and David Robbins; eight great grand children, Anna, Brody, Mark, Bethanne, Laiken, Jack Barton, Autum and Francke; four nieces, Diane Mears and her husband, Danny, Judy Erwin, Phyllis Blanton and her husband, Mart, and Christine Hodge; two nephews, Ronnie Easterling and his wife, Karen and Lesley Easterling and his wife, Brenda; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Coker and Sarah Easterling; one brother-in-law, Alvis Coker; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Eugene H. Easterling; four sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be Michael Morgan, John Robbins, Renee Easterling, Ken Herring, Jason Herring, Ronnie Berryman, Ron Helms, Brad Harlow and Mark Timmons.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Saltillo Funeral Home and continue on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Birmingham Ridge Church 30 minutes prior to service time.
