BLANCHE POWELL
Tupelo - ANNIE BLANCHE POWELL, 95, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Ratliff native, she was born November 1, 1911 to the late William Alvin and Mittie Stovall Wooldridge. She was married to William "Razzie" Powell for 62 years who preceded her in death November 21, 1997. She and her husband moved to Tupelo in 1952 where she resided ever since. She enjoyed sewing, fishing with her husband, and vegetable and flower gardening. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Hershel Wiygul and Rev. Phillip Box officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Hodge and husband, Wilson, of Garland, Tex. and Dean Echols of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one son, David Powell and wife, Carolyn, of Shannon; five grandchildren, Susan Bryson of Rockwall, Tex., Teresa Maxam of Schoolcraft, Mich., Kristie Gay of Rocky Mount, N.C., Kerry Powell of Ingomar, Amy Hays of Okolona; 11 great-grandchildren, Rachel Bryson, Drew Bryson, Kathryn Ray, Allison Ray, Elizabeth Gay, Caroline Gay, Bonner Powell, Davis Powell, Katie Hays, Kara Hays, Charlie Hays; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters and two brothers; one son, Paul Allen Powell; and a grandson, Kevin Powell.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
