BILLY S. YOUNG, SR.
Saltillo - BILLY STANLEY YOUNG, SR., 76, died Friday, September 22, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Shiloh Community native, he was born July 16, 1930 to the late Durell Hendrick and Jimmy Lou Stanley Young. He retired as a plant manager for Playcraft after 34 years of service. He enjoyed various outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and was an avid bird watcher. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew him as "Papaw." He was a member of Saltillo United Methodist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2006 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Schumpert Young of Saltillo; two daughters, Mary Jane Dillard and husband, Steve, of Saltillo, and Beverly Collums and husband, Randy of Pontotoc; one son, Stanley Young of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Layla Comeans and husband, Kenneth, of Burleson, Tex., Jeff Dillard and wife Lisa, of Rosamond, Calif., Laura Gibson of Cleveland, Tenn., Andrew Dillard of Saltillo, John Gibson and wife, Buffy, of Corinth, and Timothy Dillard and wife, Erin, of Saltillo; four great-grandchildren, Laci and John Cheney and Miranda Ashley, all of Burleson, Tex., and Jack Riley Gibson of Corinth; and a special cousin, J.D. Young, Jr. of Tupelo.
A brother, James B. Young preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be John Thomas Gibson, Andy Dillard, Tim Dillard, and John Mark Cheney.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
