West Helena, Ark. - Billy Joe (BJ) Yant, 30, died Monday, August 30, 2010, in West Helena Ark. A Tupelo native, he was born September 1, 1979, to Billy Wilson and Andria Diane Presley Yant. He grew up in Verona and lived there until moving to West Helena, Ark. five years ago. He served as a former certified member of the Helena-West Helena Police Force and Fire Department. He loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed riding 4-wheelers.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Alan Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include Diane Yant of Verona; his step-son, Dylan Smith; two sisters, DeeDee Brown Hodge (Victor) of West Memphis, Ark. and Rena Yant of Aberdeen; three brothers, Bubba Yant (Amy) of Saltillo, Charlie Yant of Aberdeen, and Eddie Yant (April) of Palmetto; his half-sister, Pam Yant; his half-brothers, Mitch Yant and Billy Yant, Jr., all of Mooreville; his nieces and nephews, Emma, Brooke, Grace, Caroline, Chase, Andria, Tristam, Sierra, Zoey, Kimberly, Jessie, Jamie, Jonathan, Dalton, Dylan, and Jason.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy W. Yant, and his grandmother, Annie Presley.
Pallbearers will be Kevin (Cheese) Ussery, Ricky (Phat Boy) Loden, Shawn Reese, Dallas Hall, Brian Lucas, Roy Covington Sr., and Travis Williams
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Helena-West Helena Police and Fire Departments.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
