BILLY JOE McLARTY
Saltillo - Billy Joe McLarty, 75, died Monday, September 14, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Booneville after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born to Quay Grover McLarty and Verna Ward Bass McLarty. He married Betty Harris in 1953 and they recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. He lived many years in the Eggville and Hebron Community and the last 15 years in Saltillo. In the earlier years of their marriage they lived in many areas of the country including California.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at at the family home. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McLarty of Saltillo; four sons, Bobby McLarty (Kappy), Billy McLarty (Helen), Charles McLarty (Lois) and Douglas McLarty (Susan); one brother, Horace McLarty (Ophelia) of Montera, California; three sisters, Betty Lackey (Al) of Tupelo, Helen Gilileo (Don) and Marilyn Fitzgerald (Gary) both of Leesburg, Florida; sister-in-law, Edna McLarty of Tupelo; his aunt and uncle, Billy and Opal Grant of Tupelo; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Rodney Kipp McLarty; two sisters, Barbara Sorrell and Shirley Albritton.
